CENTER FOR THE PROMOTION OF ART CULTURE AND CREATIVE LANNA,CMU (ACCLCMU)
Chiang Mai University formally committed to advancing sustainable tourism in Thailand by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030, along with 50 other allied agencies from public and private sectors. The purpose of this plan is to elevate the standards of tourist attractions, accommodations, tour operators, and the broader tourism ecosystem in alignment with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC-D). The signing took place at the Spectrum Screening Space room, Floor 5, Aditayadorn building, Mahidol University on August 6, 2025.
On behalf of the university, Professor of Practice Dr. Ekkachai Mahaek, Vice President, attended the signing ceremony, which was held by the Department of Tourism, Mahidol University, Green Destinations, and Travelife Tour Operators.
This collaborative effort is designed to align Thailand's tourism industry with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC-D), thereby contributing to the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All participating partners have pledged to improve tourism-related businesses and communities nationwide, with the ultimate goal of achieving standard accreditation through coordinated, integrated efforts. The ceremony was attended by executives and representatives from partnering agencies.
Chiang Mai University is part of the alliance aiming to drive Thailand’s sustainable tourism, as part of the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030. The Centre for The Promotion of Art Culture and Creative Lanna (ACCL) has played an active role in driving the operation using a participatory approach for long-term sustainability.
