60th Anniversary Symbol of CMU

Advancing Towards Internationalization The design concept combines two core ideas: preserving identity and progressing into the future. The context of identity is conveyed through the graceful Lanna-inspired lines, incorporating both Thai numerals “๖๐” and international numerals “60.” This reflects Chiang Mai University as a regional center of learning—one that honors local traditions while advancing national development through innovation. The flowing lines of the **flame of the forest flower (Dok Thong Kwao)** are also subtly incorporated, symbolizing a warm welcome to a new era.

The key element of the emblem is the **baby elephant**, moving forward through a **sustainability loop or wheel**, representing commitment, dedication, and comprehensive development over the past 60 years—and readiness to stride confidently into the future.
