Established in 2003 under the name "Establishment Project of the Research Administration Center", the center was founded to advance the university’s core mission of research. Through the work of this center, Chiang Mai University has been able to support and enhance its research initiatives in alignment with defined strategic goals and has consequently achieved a leading position in research and innovation within Thailand. To further strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of research promotion and development, the university elevated the center to become the Research Administration Office in accordance with the Chiang Mai University Regulation on University Administration (2019), effective from October 1, 2019. The office is tasked with responsibilities including the promotion, coordination, and oversight of research and innovation; management of intellectual property and technology transfer; sourcing of research funding; and the development of personnel capacity in conducting research. The office also undertakes other research-related duties as assigned. Vision To serve as an effective administrative unit providing professional services and support in research management. Mission To deliver professional services and support in research administration by utilizing systematic tools and databases. The office also functions as a consultant for research administration across university units, aiming to ensure the achievement of institutional objectives in research development.
