ARCH CMU – ECAM LaSalle Bamboo Creative Design Workshop

The Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University recently hosted an international Bamboo Creative Design Workshop in collaboration with ECAM LaSalle, the Faculty of Engineering and the Science and Technology Park - Chiang Mai University. The workshop took place from November 17-25, 2024, at the faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University
On November 25, 2024, the workshop featured a hands-on bamboo design session with 48 participants, including second-year industrial design students from the Faculty of Architecture and exchange students from ECAM LaSalle, France. They designed nine prototype bamboo bicycle helmets under the guidance of nine faculty members, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pandin Ounchanum, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.
The final presentations showcased the bamboo helmet designs, with expert feedback from faculty members such as Asst. Prof. Dr. Worrasit Tantinipankul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rattapong Angkasith, Asst. Prof. Karn Khamkaew, Dr.Poom Subpaiboonkit, Dr. Apinantn Sumthumpruek, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiwat Suwan-on, Piyachon Unjanam, Thanaporn Porntewakul, and Rafael Belache. These designs will be exhibited at the Lanna Architecture Center, Khum Chao Burirat.
This workshop aimed to enhance knowledge and application of bamboo design in architecture, art, and design, fostering logical thinking, problem-solving, and international exchange among students and faculty. The Faculty of Architecture extends its gratitude to ECAM LaSalle University, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Science and Technology Park for their support in making this workshop a success.
