International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, Organizes “Digital Asset and DeFi 101” to Equip Students with Next-Generation Financial Technology Knowledge

The International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI) at Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Business Administration, and the College of Arts, Media and Technology, hosted a special lecture entitled “Digital Asset and DeFi 101” on August 16, 2025, at the “Happy Lifelong Learning” Auditorium, Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University.

The event was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Rattasit Sukhahuta, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, who presided over the opening ceremony. Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of ICDI, delivered the opening report outlining the rationale and objectives of the project.

The program aimed to strengthen students’ foundational understanding of blockchain technology and decentralized finance (DeFi), while inspiring career opportunities in the Web3 industry. This aligns with ICDI’s mission to develop globally competent leaders in digital innovation and to foster strong partnerships with blockchain technology stakeholders both domestically and internationally.

Distinguished speakers from both Thailand and abroad shared their expertise, including Dr. Natee Thepphot (Founder, OM Platform and Block Mountain), Zik (4Seas), Gun Clawvuthinan (Uniswap APAC Community Manager and Founder, APE X CRYPTO), and Amonwan Chatchalitwaphong (Head of Legal, Kucoin Thailand). Their sessions covered topics such as “Digital Assets 101 and Trends”, “Bitcoin, Ethereum, and DeFi 101: The Future of Finance”, “Thailand Digital Asset Legal Landscape and Case Studies”, and a panel discussion on “Careers in Digital Assets”.

The event attracted over 500 students and faculty members, concluding with an engaging Kahoot quiz competition, complete with prizes to encourage active participation and continued learning.

The “Digital Asset and DeFi 101” project is a key milestone for ICDI, reinforcing its role as a leader in digital innovation education and demonstrating its commitment to equipping students with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in the evolving global digital economy.
