CMU Rises to No 44 Globally in THE University Impact Rankings 2025

          CMU just achieved a landmark achievement which underscores Thai universities’ roles in global sustainable development. On June 18, 2025, Times Higher Education (THE) announced its University Impact Rankings 2025, featuring 2,526 institutions from 130 countries. The rankings assess the contributions universities have made worldwide towards UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

         In this edition, CMU has been ranked 44th in the world among 2,318 ranked institutions with an overall score of 92.7, making a remarkable 31-place improvement from its 75th ranking last year. This success directly aligns with the CMU Development Plan, Phase 13, which prioritizes advancing sustainable development through innovation and social responsibility on both the national and global scale.

         CMU’s remarkable success is further highlighted by the placement in the global top 20 for three major SDGs. CMU ranked no 10 globally for SDG 5: Gender Equality with a score of 78.8, reflecting dedication to promoting gender equality in all dimensions, supporting research on diversity and equality, and ensuring equity within educational institutions. CMU ranked no 15 globally for SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals with a score of 97, achieved through the promotion of international networking. And CMU ranked no 17 globally for SDG 4: Quality Education with a score of 85.2 thanks to the commitment of providing quality and accessible education. Additionally, CMU ranked 40th globally for SDG 13: Climate Action with a score 76.2 and 81st globally for SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure with a score 94.2.

         This year, 83 Thai universities were featured in the rankings, with five institutions securing a spot in the top 100. The universities included Chiang Mai University, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Thammasat University, and Walailak University.

         CMU's international success is a testament to the collective efforts of its faculty members, staff, and students in advancing the university's commitment to the SDGs.
