ERDI CMU Joins Hydrogen Thailand Club to Drive Hydrogen as an Alternative Energy and Reduce GHG Emissions for Thailand’s Low-Carbon Circular Economy
11 April 2024
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
Since the beginning of March 2024, the Energy Research and Development Institute of Nakornping (ERDI) has joined the Hydrogen Thailand Club and has implemented hydrogen-related projects such as the International Hydrogen Ramp-Up (H2Uppp) in Thailand in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), and Enapter.
This is because ERDI recognized the benefit of hydrogen as a key to reducing carbon emissions. The Hydrogen Thailand Club gathers experts from the private sector, both domestically and internationally, as well as the public sector, working in hydrogen production, storage, utilization and policy. The group was established as a result of the collaboration between both sectors, a collaboration that was announced in October 2020 to prepare for hydrogen and fuel-cell energy uses.
At present, various organizations have expressed their interest in joining the club in order to drive a new energy alternative and help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for Thailand’s low-carbon circular economy.
CMU is striving to ensure all of its sections are able to conduct GHG emissions assessments themselves and become a carbon neutral university at a 70% level in 2027 and at a 100% level in 2032.
