CMU Faculty of Architecture and CODI Sign MOU to Address Community Housing Issues
Chiang Mai, Thailand – On August 25, 2025, the Faculty of Architecture at Chiang Mai University (CMU) and the Community Organizations Development Institute (CODI), a public organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize a partnership aimed at solving housing and land issues for low-income communities. The ceremony marks a significant step in integrating academic knowledge with real-world community experience to address both long-standing and new social challenges.

The MOU was signed by Assistant Professor Dr. Phandin Ounjai-na, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, along with Associate Professor Dr. Amphika Chummattaya, Assistant Dean for Planning and Quality Assurance, and Associate Professor Dr. Jiranthanin Kittika. Representing CODI were Ms. Chalermsri Radakool, Deputy Director, and the team from CODI’s Northern Office, including Mr. Wichian Pholsayam, Director; Mr. Chaiya Phonkhang, Assistant Director; and Ms. Suwaree Wongkongkaew, Advisor.

This agreement builds upon previous collaborative efforts, such as the design project for the Klong Mae Kha canal-side community and the establishment of a network of northern educational institutions. The partnership aims to enhance institutional-level cooperation and foster a robust learning network that connects the university, government agencies, and local communities.

By working together, the parties seek to find sustainable solutions to complex housing challenges and improve the long-term well-being of the public. This collaboration is designed to create a strong, ongoing framework for addressing housing and land problems through shared knowledge and resources.
