On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Warattaya Chinnakarm, Associate Dean, participated as a representative in the signing ceremony for the collaboration agreement on the “Large-Scale Forest Fire Prevention, PM 2.5 Reduction, and Community Economy Enhancement Project Using Machinery.” The event was held in collaboration with Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, administrators from Chiang Mai University, and representatives from various public and private sector organizations in Chiang Mai. The ceremony took place at The Imperial Resort & Sports Club Chiang Mai.
The project aims to reduce forest fires, mitigate PM 2.5 air pollution, and alleviate natural disasters. Additionally, it seeks to promote local employment, increase community income, restore forest ecosystems, and enhance biodiversity through the planting of perennial trees.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward fostering sustainability in both environmental and economic aspects in Chiang Mai Province while driving the region’s sustainable development goals forward.
