Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University Visits Mekong Basin Civilization Museum Fostering Experiential Learning Through Cultural Heritage to Enhance Sustainable Education and Staff Development.
27 May 2025
Faculty of Social Sciences
On May 24, 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, through its Center for Research and Academic Services, led a group of staff members on a study visit to the Mekong Basin Civilization Museum in Chiang Rai Province. The group was warmly welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Phollavat Praphattong, Head of the Institute of Arts, Culture, and the Mekong Basin Civilization, along with the institute’s staff.
This study visit provided participants with a valuable opportunity to engage in experiential learning within a living cultural environment. The visit helped deepen understanding of the social contexts, historical and archaeological information, cultural heritage, and the local way of life in the Mekong Basin area. These insights serve as essential knowledge for the development of humanities and social sciences education in the present day, with a focus on lifelong learning, openness to new perspectives, and the practical application of experiences in real work contexts within the university.
The visit was marked by a friendly and inspiring atmosphere, filled with meaningful exchanges of knowledge between the two institutions. The experience not only sparked creativity and inspiration for future initiatives, but also enhanced the professional skills of staff members—laying the foundation for continued development in quality and sustainable educational management.
