30 July 2019

Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)

CMU’s Assistant Professor Dr. Worrapot Sereerat, Director of Smart City Management Center said that in April 2019 some 28,000 vehicles/day visited the campus, with the number of motorcycles exceeding the number of cars by a factor of 1.35. However the number of riders who wear a helmet is only 30 – 40 %.

In response to this CMU has launched the “CMU Safety 100% Helmet” campaign in all 3 campuses. The campaign began with a public relations informing all riders and passengers of the requirement to wear a helmet, by August helmetless riders and passengers must borrow a helmet before they can enter the University grounds and from September 2019 compulsory enforcement of helmets will be in place, where helmetless riders and passengers will be stopped and reported to students affairs section or to their office manager. Not wearing a helmet whilst traveling on a motorcycle is illegal and is also unsafe and CMU is committed to improving safety for all students and staff.
