Professor Dr. Pornchai Rachtanapun and Research Team Win First Runner-up Award at the 13th National Nanotechnology Innovation Competition
23 August 2025
Faculty of Agro-Industry
The Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, proudly congratulates Professor Dr. Pornchai Rachtanapun and his research team for winning the First Runner-up Award at the 13th National Nanotechnology Innovation Competition for their project entitled:
“Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Quantum Dot via Cold Plasma Synthesis: An Eco-Sustainable Antimicrobial Substance Against Food-Borne Pathogenic Bacteria.”
This innovation emerged through a cross-disciplinary collaboration between physics & materials science and microbiology. By applying cold plasma technology, the team successfully synthesized carbon quantum dots in a short period of time, which demonstrated strong antimicrobial activity against foodborne pathogens. Notably, this innovation has already been granted a patent.
Special thanks go to the dedicated research team: Dr. Rangsarn Panyatip, Dr. Jutamas Tuntala, Kunticha Pratintong, and Associate Professor Dr. Jitsiri Thongsorn Rachtanapun, whose contributions made this innovation possible.
