CMU to Host ‘Ang Kaew Games 2024’ from May 31 – June 9, 2024

       CMU is hosting the ‘Ang Kaew Games’ and this year will be the 40th edition of the University Sports Board of Thailand (USBT) national inter-varsity multi-sport event for university staff, set to take place between May 31 – June 9, 2024. Athletes from 68 higher education institutions nationwide are competing for glory in 21 events. The opening ceremony on May 31 will be a momentous commemoration of the university’s 60th anniversary.

       On May 1, 2024, CMU held a press conference for the Ang Kaew Games 2024 and a drawing ceremony for team sports events in the Thong Kwaw Meeting Room at UNISERV. Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol welcomed attendees and presided over the opening. Assistant Professor Dr. Pitipong Yodmongkol, Vice President and Chair of the 40th USBT, gave a press conference and USBT representatives handed over plates and introduced the games’ sponsors. Relevant regulations and announcements on the games’ organization were explained by the USBT subcommittee for Sports Promotion for Excellence and the draws for the teams’ sports events were conducted by the sub-committee’s representatives.

       CMU was selected by the Ministry of Higher Education of Science, Innovation and Research to be the host of the 40th USBT games, also known as the ‘Ang Kaew Games,’ which will be held between May 31 – June 9, 2024, and will be a part of the commemoration of CMU’s 60th anniversary. Over 8,000 athletes from 68 institutions from all over the country are competing for glory in 21 events, including basketball, football, futsal, swimming, volleyball, sepak takraw, hoop takraw, tennis, beach volleyball, table tennis, badminton, p?tanque, golf, ballroom dancing, aerobic dancing, snooker-billiards, cycling, e-sports, crossword and chess. The games’ mascot, named ‘Nong Dok Sak’, is modeled after the teak flower. The opening ceremony is set to take place on May 31, 2024, at the CMU Convention Centre.
