NurseCMU Joins Global Health Seminar on Planetary Health Concerns

The Faculty of Nursing at Chiang Mai University (NurseCMU) participated in the 14th Virtual Global Health Hub (VGHH) academic seminar hosted by The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, USA. The event took place on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. over Zoom and highlighted the importance of global collaboration in addressing pressing health issues.

The seminar, titled "Nurse Roles, Actions, and Recommendations of Planetary Health," brought together experts and academics from around the world to discuss the critical role of nursing in addressing planetary health challenges. Associate Prof. Dr. Apiradee Nantsupwat, representing the Faculty of Nursing at Chiang Mai University, delivered a compelling presentation highlighting the urgent need for action on climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. These issues pose significant threats to health and well-being, further complicating efforts to combat poverty, ensure equity, and improve lives worldwide.

Dr. Nantsupwat's presentation specifically addressed the adverse effects of climate change on Thailand's population health, including the alarming temperature increase across the country. She emphasized the imperative for nurses to take action, especially concerning the PM 2.5 situation and the deteriorating air quality, which are of particular concern for Thailand.

The seminar witnessed participation from several prestigious higher education institutions worldwide, including Puerto Rico, South Korea, T?rkiye, and the United States. This diverse attendance underscored the universal recognition of the challenges and the collective commitment to finding solutions.
