   International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, organized an international workshop “Rail Logistics Optimization Model Workshop” at Conference Room Ang Kaew Villa aimed at enhancing knowledge in railway systems for the design and development of models supporting the management of Thai railway logistics.
On August 7, 2024, ICDI held the “Rail Logistics Optimization Center Workshop” to exchange knowledge and experiences in various areas such as the use of AI for data collection and analysis, railway systems in Thailand, and railway management in the Federal Republic of Germany. The goal was to enable participants to apply the knowledge and techniques gained to develop an efficient Rail Logistics Optimization Model.

   The workshop was inaugurated by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University. The event featured esteemed speakers, including:
1. Prof. Dr. Yu Xi, Dean of Stirling College, Chengdu University, presented on “Evolution of AI Application in Data Collection”
2. Mr. Watcharacharn Sirisuwannthat, former Deputy Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, shared knowledge and experiences about the Thai railway system
3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ying Chen, Director of the Centre for Quantitative Finance & PI of the Asian Institute of Digital Finance, National University of Singapore, presented on “AI Forecasting in the Digital Era”
4. Prof. Dr. Thorsten Koch, Head of the Applied Algorithmic Intelligence Methods (AIM) Department, Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), Germany, who presented on “Notes on DATA”
5. Prof. Dr. Ralf Borndorfer, Head of the Network Optimization Department, Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), Germany, who presented on “Rotation Optimization for Railways”
Following the presentations, there was a brainstorming session on developing a rail logistics model to support the planning and development of the country’s railway industry.

   The workshop was attended by over 30 faculty members and researchers.
