CMU ranked 88th in QS Asia University Rankings 2022

Chiang Mai University was ranked 88th overall, and third in the country, in the 2022 edition of QS Asia University Rankings. The rankings were announced on November 2, 2021, with 675 participating institutions.

This year, CMU moved up from 102nd in last year’s edition to 88th, showing impressive performance in International Research Network, ranked 48th, Academic Reputation, ranked 58th, and Employee Reputation, ranked 78th.

The top 10 Thai universities in the rankings are Chulalongkorn University (36th), Mahidol University (43rd), Chiang Mai University (88th), Thammasat University (111th), Khon Kaen University (133rd), Kasetsart University (138th), Prince of Songkla University (171st), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (196th), King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (281 - 290), and King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, Srinakharinwirot University, and Suranaree University of Technology (351 - 400)

Each of the 11 indicators has a different weight, as follows.
1) Academic Reputation (30%)
2) Employer Reputation (20%)
3) Faculty Student (10%)
4) Staff with PhD (5%)
5) Citations per Paper (10%)
6) Papers per Faculty (5%)
7) International Research Network (10%)
8) International Faculty (2.5%)
9) International Students (2.5%)
10) Inbound Exchange Students (2.5%)
11) Outbound Exchange Students (2.5%)
