Engineering Team Joins IEDC 2024 to Innovate Taichung's Tourism Experience

Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr.Korrakot Yaibuathet Tippayawong, Assistant Dean and Director of Chiang Mai International Engineering School, along with faculty members from the Department of Industrial Engineering—Dr. Adirek Baisukhan, Dr. Phongsawat Premphet, and Ms. Natthanan Phanboonplook, International Relations Officer—together with a team of 9 students, participated in the International Engineering Design Challenge (IEDC) 2024 held in Taichung, Taipei, from August 31 to September 7, 2024.

The IEDC, first held in 2016 through collaboration between Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University and Muroran Institute of Technology, has since expanded globally. This year marks its 6th iteration with over 60 participants from 9 universities across 3 countries, including:
- Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand
- Naresuan University (NU), Thailand
- Muroran Institute of Technology (MIT), Japan
- Akita University of Art (AUA), Japan
- Kindai University (KU), Japan
- National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST), Chinese Taipei
- National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Chinese Taipei
- National Central University (NCU), Chinese Taipei

The IEDC aims to provide students and faculty with opportunities to exchange academic knowledge, language skills, and cultural experiences, fostering academic collaborations and future research endeavors. It also enhances team-working skills in diverse cultural and linguistic settings, preparing students for the global job market.
This year, the students explored various tourist spots in Taichung, aiming to gain insights and develop innovative solutions to improve the travel experience for international visitors, aligned with the theme "Create a Good Taichung Traveling Experience for Foreigners."
