CMU Welcomes EDL-Gen Executives
10 June 2025
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
On June 10, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Todsaporn Pichaiya, Vice President, along with the CMU executive team, welcomed Ms. Phokhine Apphay. Deputy Managing Director of EDL-Generation Public Company, and her delegation on their visit to CMU to discuss potential academic and industrial collaboration. The meeting took place at M.L. Pin Malakul Room, Office of the University 1.
This visit signifies a continuation of an established partnership. The collaboration gained momentum after a team of researchers from CMU's Faculty of Engineering visited EDL-Gen's headquarters in Laos last year to discuss research and personnel exchange. This led to the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CMU and EDL-Gen in February, establishing a clear framework for sustainable cooperation.
The recent discussions centred on personnel development and knowledge transfer in electrical technology and related fields through CMU's Lifelong Learning platform. They also explored developing short courses tailored to the specific needs of Laos's state enterprises. This collaboration not only benefits both organizations but also aligns with the vision of enhancing the region's energy sector capabilities. By combining CMU's academic expertise with EDL-Gen's practical experience, the partnership aims to drive new innovations and develop highly qualified personnel. This visit underscores both parties' commitment to a partnership that will advance technological and human resource development within ASEAN. CMU is dedicated to becoming a hub of knowledge and innovation, supporting the sustainable growth of the region's energy sector.
