Policy Forum: Halfway through Haze Season, Fire Management, PM 2.5 Resolution for Chiang Mai

Lecturer Paisit Panichkul, Assistant to the President and Director of Centre for Clean Air Solutions (CCAS), and Associate Professor Dr. Somporn Chantara’, Chief of the Environmental Science Research Centre, Faculty of Science, joined a discussion panel entitled ‘Policy Forum: Halfway through Haze Season, Fire Management, PM 2.5 Resolution for Chiang Mai’. The event was held as a part of the initiative to advance the Clean Air Bill through academic knowledge, in partnership with select committees, subcommittees and various local agencies. Mr. Tossapol Phuenudom, Vice Governor of Chiang Mai, presented a discussion on managing open burning to address PM 2.5 concerns in Chiang Mai. The talk focused on improving and implementing the Chiang Mai Model, highlighting key factors for effective prevention and resolution, including support from both public and private sectors, as well as detailing current and upcoming action plans. Leading the discussion were Ms. Nattaya Waewweerakoupt and Dr. Pimrapaat Dusadeeisariyakul. There was also a visit to the haze and wildfire laboratory at the wildfire, haze and PM 2.5 war room, Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation on March 11, 2024.
