One of the top priorities for Chiang Mai University is to build a solid foundation for the education system to equip students with necessary core skills. Most students are members of Gen Z who grew up with technology and the dream of becoming entrepreneurs starting up various forms of business. From the university’s viewpoint, it would be a great opportunity for the students to learn from experts while studying. In addition, following CMU’s proactive strategy designed in line with public sector policies, the university has an academic MOU with the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, under the project, ‘From Gen Z to be CEO 2022’. It was signed by Clinical Prof. Niwes Nanthachit, the CMU President, and Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, the Director General of the Department of International Trade Promotion. Also in attendance on January 28, 2022, were Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, CMU administrators and student representatives.
From Gen Z to be CEO is a project that opens up opportunities for students to learn more about business, from modern manufacturing management to logistics to domestic and international marketing systems. It also covers utilizing 5G to become a modern CEO, a key mechanism in the country’s development, and a ‘modern entrepreneur’ who can keep up with the business world through the integration of knowledge and innovation. The project offers a total of seven programmes, which are Experience Exchange from Exporters; Basic Knowledge for Export; International Trade Analysis; Global Business Start-up Mindset; Potential Products and Services of the Future; Intellectual Property: Act Slow, Pay More; and Complete Insights about E-Commerce Logistics and Platforms. Students will also have a chance to learn from leading organizations such as the True Corporation, Huawei, EXIM Bank, Bitkub and TikTok, to help inspire them to become a CEO themselves.
CMU is ready to support students with the education that allows them to keep up with the world and be able to respond to all kinds of challenges, as well as to provide integrated activities fostering professional skills necessary for international competition. This collaboration will produce a new and promising generation of entrepreneurs who not only will be able to generate incomes and benefits for their families and themselves but will also play a vital role in strengthening the economy, both domestic and international.
