During an online ceremony on June 10, 2022, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and CMU signed an MoU regarding the organisation of hosting the e-ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (e-AYVP) which recruits young volunteers from China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries to participate in community work. It is an initiative that uses innovation to address challenges, be it cultural, economic or environmental, in the region. UKM contributed 2,500 USD to the programme. This year’s theme is ‘Empowering ASEAN Youth Volunteers in Community Development and Poverty Eradication.’
CMU is delighted to be the co-host of the e-AYVP 2022 along with UKM, the Association for University Social Engagement Thailand (EnT), and the University to Tambon (U2T) Programme by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
‘AYBP’ is a volunteer platform that offers youth the opportunity to learn, exchange knowledge and experience, and enhance capacity, promoting cross-cultural understanding and a regional identity, as well as sustainable diversity of the communities across ASEAN. As for this occasion, UKM is proud to collaborate with CMU and the network organisations,’ stated Dr. Norazah Mohd Nordin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UKM.
‘Promoting international collaboration is an essential mission and CMU is delighted to work with one of Malaysia’s leading universities, UKM. We’re certain that this programme will offer great opportunities for the participants to develop leadership skills and engage in community development missions. It will also lead to future collaborations between the two institutions in related fields,’ added the CMU President, Clinical Prof. Niwes Nanthachit.
