CMU Rises to No 526 in QS World University Rankings 2026

In its continuous pursuit of international excellence, Chiang Mai University has demonstrated substantial progress in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings, ascending to No 526, out of over 1,500 participating institutions worldwide, with an overall score of 30.9. The QS World University Rankings is a portfolio of comparative college and university rankings compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds, a higher education analytics firm.
This remarkable achievement by CMU is a testament to growth in all aspects, particularly within the Research and Discovery domain, with significant increases in two indicators – Academic Reputation and Citations per Faculty. This has resulted in wider international recognition for the quality of our research and the continuous output of our faculty and researchers.
QS World University Rankings 2026 evaluates institutions based on nine key indicators:

? Citations per Faculty – 20%
? Employer Reputation – 15%
? Employment Outcomes – 5%
? Faculty/Student Ratio – 10%
? International Faculty – 5%
