CMU ranked third nationally in ISC World University Rankings 2021

Chiang Mai University was ranked third among Thai universities and 10th among ASEAN universities in the TOP1000: ISC World University Rankings 2021 by the Islamic World Scientific Citation Centre (ISC).
The ISC World University Rankings 2021 used four areas of indicators: Research (60%), Education (10%), International Activity (15%) and Innovation (15%). In the first three areas, the data was obtained from InCites by Clarivate Analytics & Web of Science, and as for Innovation, the scores were calculated based on the data from US Patent & Trademark Office (10%) and the average percentage of Industry Collaborations (5%) in the past three years. Each area contains indicators of which the indices can be found in the ISC World Universities Rankings.
In this edition, 16 ASEAN higher education institutions made it into the Top 1000: three from Singapore, six from Malaysia, four from Thailand, one from Indonesia and two from Vietnam, as seen in the figure.
