Towards Net Zero: CMU and EGAT Mae Moh Join forces on Mae Moh Smart City Project
11 August 2022
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
On August 11, 2022 in the Mung Ngan Loet Room at the Office of Public Relations at EGAT Mae Moh, CMU President ad interim Professor Dr. Pongrak Sribanditmongkol and Mr. Charan Khamngoen, the Assistant Governor of Electricity Generating 2 at EGAT Mae Moh, signed an MoU on the project ‘Mae Moh Smart and Livable City Towards Climate Change Net Zero.’ The ceremony was chaired and witnessed by Ms. Ubonrat Phuangphinyo, who is the head of the Lampang Provincial Office.
As a result of the agreement, CMU will use its expertise in technology and innovation to build a large online data system regarding energy and the environment for the Mae Moh district in the Lampang province, create maps illustrating energy and environmental risks in all dimensions, and to design plans and strategies in city development, as well as how to respond to energy and environmental problems. The objective of this initiative is for Mae Moh to become a net zero city. The smart city project will also allow local organizations to manage data and drive development with efficiency, while also creating awareness in prevention, mitigation and alertness, which would ultimately create a sustainable, suitable living environment. It will also benefit the public sector, the private sector, in addition to stakeholders in terms of data utilization for city planning and development. The collaboration is set to last three years.
