The Energy Research and Development Institute of Nakornping (ERDI) CMU joined the ‘Driving Net Zero’ seminar held by the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) and the Sustainable University Network (SUN) by the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT). This seminar gathered experts from all over the country to discuss the advancement of net zero.
Under the collaboration of these Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) agencies, the event took place on July 25, 2024, during the MHESIFAIR at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, following the national project to form research networks and alliances among universities, including on the topic of net zero. The aim was to advance the policies of the MHESI and the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Strategy.
The discussion entitled ‘Approaches in Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Campus Advancement’ featured experts and related parties sharing their insights. ERDI’s Director, Associate Professor Dr. Sirichai Koonaphapdeelert, gave a presentation on the implementation of the Net Zero Campus project, which is a key policy for MHESI in 2024. The main objective is to develop a platform for Net Zero Campus to advance Thai universities towards carbon neutrality and net zero emission, a shared database on greenhouse gases, prototypes for energy operations, and a white paper to present relevant policy recommendations.
The event was attended by administrators and coordinators from related agencies. ERDI’s Director, Dr. Sirichai, and Deputy Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Natanee Vorayos, gave the opening presentation titled ‘Driving Net Zero Campus’, discussing basic information and key concepts in developing the network’s digital database platform on greenhouse gases. To be a part of the project’s first and subsequent stages, interested institutions may register at www.netzerocampus.org to get involved in the data collection process and nominate the agency’s main coordinator.
