The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 was announced on March 6, 2022, and CMU was ranked in 10 out of 51 subject areas – the third highest in the country after Chulalongkorn University and Mahidol University.
This year CMU made the list in three faculty areas, an improvement from last year’s one. Life Sciences & Medicine rose from ranking 385th last year to 353rd this year and two other Faculties made their first appearance on the list, which were Art & Humanities and Social Sciences & Management, both ranking in the 401 – 450 range. As for subject rankings, the best ranked subjects at CMU, and second-best nationally, were Agriculture & Forestry, which ranked in the 151 – 200 range and Nursing, which ranked in the 151 - 170 range, both subjects being new entries to the World University Rankings. The other two subjects that were ranked were Environmental Studies, ranking in the 451 – 460 range and Computer Science & Information Systems, which ranked in the 601 – 650 range.
The indicators of the QS World University Rankings by Subject are 1) Academic Reputation, 2) Employer Reputation, 3) Research Citations per Paper, 4) H-index, and 5) International Research Network (a new indicator exclusive for the broad-faculty area), with different weightings being applied across subjects.
