Chiang Mai University Welcomes the Chairman of the Nippon Foundation to Thailand

On December 7, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, at the Phraya Sri Visarn Vacha Meeting Room, Chiang Mai University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tanyanuparb Anantana, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of the Nippon Foundation and Mr. Takashi Arikawa, Senior Director of the Nippon Foundation during their visit to Thailand and Chiang Mai University.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanida Suwanprasit, Chairperson of the Sylff Steering Committee, Faculty of Social Sciences, presented information about Sylff fellows and outstanding achievements of Sylff alumni. Mr. Yohei Sasakawa commended the success of the Sylff program in fostering the development of young leaders and reaffirmed the Nippon Foundation’s commitment to promoting global leadership. The session also included an opportunity for exchanging ideas between representatives from the Nippon Foundation, the Sylff Steering Committee, Sylff alumni, and current Sylff fellows to establish pathways for future collaboration.
The visit concluded with closing remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasan Panyagaew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, who emphasized the importance of the long-standing collaboration between Chiang Mai University and the Nippon Foundation over the past 34 years and expressed
