CMU International College of Digital Innovation Leads MetaChef Project Partners to Meet CMU Vice President to Discuss Culinary Innovation through the Metaverse

On January 21, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, led partners of the MetaChef project to meet with Asst. Prof. Todsaporn Pichaiya, Vice President of Chiang Mai University. The meeting focused on the project MetaChef: International Culinary Education Alliance via Metaverse Immersive Training, which is supported by ERASMUS+ of the European Union. The project aims to launch collaboration between Chiang Mai University and leading international organizations in culinary education and innovation. The meeting included representatives from both educational and industrial sectors globally listed as follows;

• Ding Li, Associate Professor, School of Hospitality Management Food Service and Culinary Arts, Institut Paul Bocuse Ecole De Management, France.
• Pearl Lin, Associate Professor, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.
• Vasilis Kostoglou, Professor, Department of Informatics and Electronic Engineering, International Hellenic University, Greece.
• Konstantinos Diamantaras, Professor, Department of Informatics and Electronic Engineering, International Hellenic University, Greece.
• Marina Delianidi, Scientific Associate, PhD Candidate, International Hellenic University, Greece.
• Zhao Min, Staff of Stirling College, Chengdu University, China.
• Mu Lei, Associate Professor, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Chengdu University, China.
• Fu Jing, Associate Professor, Assistant Dean of the School of Tourism and Culture Industry, Chengdu University, China.
• Yu Xi, Professor and Dean of Stirling College, Chengdu University, China.

This three-year project, starting in August 2024, aims to develop culinary courses integrating metaverse technology to create realistic virtual learning experiences. Students will be able to practice culinary skills from various cultures and learn about global cuisines in virtual classrooms.

The project not only showcases Chiang Mai University's potential and readiness for educational innovation but also opens opportunities for future collaborations with ERASMUS, contributing to sustainable progress in international education.
