25 March 2022
Science and Technology Park
On March 24, 2022, CMU Science and Technology Park (CMU STeP) signed a research agreement with SCG Cement and SCG (Lampang) as a part of the smart and eco-friendly basic material improvement project for Thai road construction. At the NSP Rice Grain Auditorium, in the NSP Reception Hall (Chiang Mai), the agreement was signed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tanyanuparb Anantana, the CMU STeP Director, on the behalf of CMU, Mr. Manasit Sarigaphuti for SCG Cement and Mr. Visut Jongjareonkit, the Managing Director of SCG (Lampang). The purpose of this partnership is to find ways to improve road construction in Thailand through alternative materials that require less time and resources, have good strength and are friendly to the environment.
To create new bodies of knowledge on road construction, STeP, as a provider of tech business and innovation development services, has partnered with CMU Faculty of Engineering with the support from the Dean – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peerapong Jitsangiam, from the Department of Civil Engineering, who is the country’s leading expert in pavement technology, as well as SCG Cement, an expert in cement and concrete. Once completed, this project promoting new technology will serve as a model for future applications and improvements.
