Mr. Chaiya Promma, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailland, Ms. Shirley Tarawali, Chairperson of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL), Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Director of the Animal Production and Health Division at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Mr. Robert Simpson, Senior Adviser to the Assistant Director-General / Regional Representative for the Asia-Pacific region at the FAO, Ms. Sopachai Chavalakul, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthawarat, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, and Prof. Dr. Pongrak Sribunditmongkol, President of Chiang Mai University, all jointly extended a warm welcome to the conference participants during the opening ceremony.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Thailand Department of Livestock Development and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University jointly organized this meeting, with a focus on addressing issues related to driving changes that impact livestock systems and resolving problems through four significant dimensions, including food and nutrition security, economic and social considerations, health, and environmental factors.
