CMU Transit has introduced 40 new CMU electric shuttle cars which run on clean energy like electricity. The service, covering all areas of the University from 7 am to 10 pm every day, is provided for students and staff. The goal is to be the leader in creating and managing green innovations in a sustainable manner. The total number of passengers from previous operations amounts to 2.7 million, covering 5.8 million kilometers, and has reduced 1,650 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Clinical Prof. Niwes Nanthachit, President of CMU, mentioned that developing the mass transportation system has always been a priority. The aim is to increase connectivity on the campus as well as provide convenient, safe, and eco-friendly services. Furthermore, the project incorporates new technology for traffic management and efficient energy consumption.
The Smart Campus Management Centre (SCMC) changed the appearance and form of the new shuttle. The design changed from an opened shuttle to a closed one. As a result, they are also better in terms of capacity, with a maximum capacity of 16 seats. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are used to provide more efficiency and longer duration usage. In terms of service, new technology helps improve efficiency by, for instance, showing the location of the vehicles on CMU Mobile Application in real-time and counting the passengers using image processing and AI. Inside, monitors are showing the route and PR news on campus, security cameras, ventilation fans, stop buttons, firefighting equipment, and life-saving equipment. Ozone sanitization in all vehicles will ensure hygiene and safety for the passengers amidst the spread of COVID-19. Also, data on the vehicles are collected and processed for optimizing energy consumption management.

CMU is firmly committed to the promotion of saving energy and environmental protection and is ready to accommodate the trend of electric cars in the future through the technologies from the Smart
