On May 16, 2023, Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, CMU President, and Mr. Rattana Sawameechai, Secretariat of the Office of National Farmers Council, along with executives from both parties, signed the renewal of the bilateral academic MoU on the promotion of agricultural knowledge and expertise, education and research, as well as participation in activities by farmers organisations.
CMU and the Office of National Farmers Council have been long-standing partners with an excellent relationship. The Council has worked with the Faculties of Law and Agriculture, the Science and Technology Research Institute and the Lanna Rice Research Centre on several projects supporting research, production capacity development, processing and marketing, as well as the Faculty of Agriculture’s special admission programme for students from the Council. Since 2020, a total of 20 students have been admitted via this programme. In addition, the collaborations have resulted in legal support and applications of rice research for better farming, rice breeding, yields quality improvement and value addition of rice straw, among others.
The MoU renewal will help the bilateral collaboration in bringing knowledge and technology in agriculture and other fields to help improve the quality of life for farmers and help create sustainable incomes and new opportunities for farmers.
