Faculty of Architecture, CMU, Hosts 3rd Academic Strategy Seminar on "Regenerative Design"
The Faculty of Architecture at Chiang Mai University recently hosted its 3rd Academic Strategy Seminar, focusing on "Regenerative Design: A Multitude of Perspectives on Regenerative Design." The seminar was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sun Suwatcharapinan, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
The event featured presentations from several faculty members, each sharing their unique perspective on the topic:
Asst.prof. Dr.Ptave Arrayapharnon presented the "On Crisis" project, a collaborative effort between the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design program and the DESIGN FOR DISASTERS (D4D) group. This initiative focuses on designing solutions to urban and residential crises.
Asst.prof. Dr.Titaya Sararit discussed "The role of gathering space during and after disaster: Community recovery through the priority of public space." Her research compares case studies from Thailand and Japan, looking at the design of post-disaster spaces in partnership with the National Earthquake Research Center (EARTH).
Asst.prof. Dr.Jaturong Pokharatsiri and Asst.prof. Dr.Chulawadee Santad presented on "Urban regeneration x space syntax." Their work explores urban and spatial usage using Space Syntax, a set of theories and techniques for analyzing spatial configuration.
Following the presentations, Asst.prof. Dr.Damnoen Techamai, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, joined the discussion. The exchange of ideas aimed to guide the development of educational strategies in Regenerative Design.
