Engineering CMU and IIT Gandhinagar Signed MOU on Research and Academic Cooperation

     The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University (CMU), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science, Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar), India. The signing ceremony took place on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Hall of Fame, 6th Floor, 30th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University.

     The ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, CMU, and Prof. Amit Prashant, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Gandhinagar, who represented their respective institutions. The event was also attended by representatives from the College of Arts, Media, and Technology (CAMT) and various departments within the Faculty of Engineering, including Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, who participated as witnesses.


     IIT Gandhinagar is one of India's leading educational institutions, established in 2008 in Gujarat under the auspices of the Government of India. Known for its holistic approach to education, the institution offers a wide range of programs spanning engineering and other disciplines, from undergraduate to doctoral levels. IIT Gandhinagar places a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research, addressing pressing societal and global challenges.


     After the signing ceremony, representatives from both institutions discussed avenues for collaboration in the following areas:
1. Student exchange programs and workshops focusing on Digital and AI for Sustainability
2. Curriculum development and joint research in various fields, such as Digital Technology, Data Science, Cyber Security, AI Robotics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Biology, Civil Infrastructure Engineering, and Energy

     Additionally, the IIT Gandhinagar delegation expressed interest in visiting CMU’s Faculty of Engineering and its specialized laboratories to explore further collaborative opportunities.
