Engineering CMU and Hitachi Energy Signed MOU for Education and Tech Development

The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University signed an academic cooperation agreement with Hitachi Energy (Thailand) Co., Ltd. on September 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hall of Fame, 6th Floor, 30th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Engineering. The signing ceremony was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Worawut Waruttamapornsu, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy (Thailand) Co., Ltd., who signed the agreement. The witnesses for the signing were:

2. Assistant Professor Dr. Peeraphon Jirapong, Faculty Member, Department of Electrical Engineering
3. Dr. Praditpong Suksirithawornkul, Director & Vice President

This signing marks an important beginning in strengthening the collaboration between both parties to support and promote education, research development, and technology learning for students and faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University. The collaboration focuses on key energy topics of the present and future, such as Energy Transition, Carbon Neutrality, Microgrids, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), e-Mobility, Green Hydrogen, and a Sustainable Energy Future. Additionally, this partnership creates opportunities to raise the standard of education and develop human resources with expertise in energy to meet the demand for knowledgeable personnel, enhancing the competitiveness of the country at both the regional and national levels in the long term.
The collaboration between the two agencies aims to transfer technology, knowledge, and experience, focusing on the following main topics:
1) Apprentice Program - 4 Students
2) Engineering Essential - Factory Visits
3) Special Instructor Dispatching Program
4) Webinars - Energy Transition
5) Equipment Donation for Education
6) Demo for Education Related to Technology Enabling Energy Transition
7) Engineering Program Linked to COE at CMU
8) Exchanged Program (Study Tour or Site Visit)
