Agro-industry professor receives prestigious Rice Innovation Award

On December 17, 2021, Assist. Prof. Dr. Suthaphat Kamthai from the Faculty of Agro-industry, Chiang Mai University, received the Rice Innovation Award 2021 in the industrial category from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for the work titled, ‘Rice Supply Chain Biodegradable Packaging Innovation’. The project aimed to sustainably add value to waste from rice farming (i.e., rice straw and broken rice) by using them in the production of biodegradable plastic pellets and packaging. CMU Science and Technology Park (CMU STeP) assisted in the project’s business planning and marketing.
