MIdS CMU Signs Academic MoU with Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce and Hosts Generative AI Training

Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School
On Monday, June 16, 2025, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, hosted the signing ceremony of an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce and Chiang Mai University. The event also included a training session on Generative AI for staff of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce.
The ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Apichat Sophadang, Dean of MIdS CMU, and Dr. Kobkit Issarachevawat, Chairman of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, who delivered opening remarks and outlined the objectives of the MoU.
The signatories of the MoU included:

Mr. Santi Laopanitkul, Secretary-General of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce
Associate Professor Dr. Sate Sampattagul, Director of University Academic Service Center, Chiang Mai University
This MoU aims to drive strategic collaboration in curriculum development and management at MIdS, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business and management, and the organization of training and seminars on AI and digital technologies for personnel and entrepreneurs within the Chamber of Commerce network. These initiatives will be led by expert lecturers from MIdS, Chiang Mai University.
The partnership also seeks to enhance knowledge and capabilities for sustainable business practices, with attention to environmental and social concerns. Furthermore, it aims to support capacity building in tourism management, creative service businesses, and the development of sustainable business models.
The event featured several presentations, including:
“Approaches to Applying AI in Business and AI & Green Skill Development Projects” by Associate Professor Dr.Apichat Sophadang, Dean of MIdS CMU
“The Importance and Practical Use Cases of AI” by Mr. Somphot Limlenglert, Vice Chairman of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce
“Development of Short-Term Programs between PMU-B and MIdS” by Ms. Yaowaluck Wongpraparat, Director of the Economic Corridor Cluster Research Framework, Office of Urban and Regional Innovation Coordination, PMU-B
The event took place at Room 2-202, Building 2, MIdS, Chiang Mai University.
