On January 19 and 22, 2025, at SAIYUD Kitchen and The Rice Barn in Chiang Mai, the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University (ICDI-CMU), led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of ICDI, hosted an immersive Thai cooking experience for international partners from top institutions.

Participants had been learning with respected well-known Thai Chefs to cook iconic Thai dishes, including Tom Yum Kung, Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky Rice. They also explored Thai-Lanna culture through vegetable and fruit carving, traditional Thai-style food preparation and decoration, and enjoyed an authentic Khantoke dinner, showcasing Northern Thai heritage and lifestyle.

This event was part of the MetaChef Project—officially titled "International Culinary Education Alliance via Metaverse Immersive Training"—supported by the European Union (Erasmus+ Program). The project aims to create a Metaverse platform for culinary training, allowing learners to master cooking techniques from various European and Asian cuisines.

MetaChef reflects a commitment to promoting cultural diversity, knowledge exchange, and sustainability in the food industry. It fosters international collaboration and paves the way for a new future in global culinary education.
