Lanna Traditional House Museum Re-Opens

Chiang Mai University together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand re-opened the Lanna Traditional House Museum under the title “Visit Chiang Mai – I miss you”, in order to encourage tourism, boost local economics and raise awareness regarding the Lanna Culture and History, on July 12, 2020 at the Lanna House Museum, The Center for the Promotion of Arts and Culture.
At the opening a “Creative Sipping Lanna Tea” activity was held and Mr. Charoenrit Sanguansat, Governor of Chiang Mai Province gave a welcoming speech and CMU’s President Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit, M.D., gave an encouragement speech. Also in attendance was Mr.Yutthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand who gave away packaged tourist prizes to a select number of lucky persons.
Chiang Mai University is proactively integrating and developing its services and innovations in order to create economic value for the society and communities and at the re-opening show cased:
1) Arts and Crafts that have been created by mixing innovative designs as well as CMU’s Creative Lanna, displaying Muankung pottery, umbrella handicrafts and Wualai Silver ware.
2) Lanna Gastronomy, fantastic Foods by the CMU’s Food Innovation and Package Center, which has developed the local menu to create new tastes, including Jelly Cube Chickens, Merang Sour Sausage, Khaosoy, Chiang Mai Ice – cream and Wiang Ping Rose Sphere Juice that will surely make Chiang Mai Province a “Gastronomic Tourism Destination”.
3) Lanna Wellness Wisdom, by the Innovation Herbal Center, Faculty of Pharmacy, which has extracted local herbs that can be used in food, cosmetics, beverages and massage, which is offered by Faculty of Nursing’s Lanna Spa, especially ideal for pregnant ladies and infants and also offers Lanna musical therapy.
The re-opening was in collaboration with Chiang Mai Provincial Office, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Faculties / Offices of Chiang Mai University including Office of Strategy Management, Office of the University together with Science and Technology Park, Food Innovation and Packaging Center, The Center for the Promotion of Arts and Culture, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Faculty of Mass Communication.
