ICDI-CMU joined the group for a study visit and an exchange of ideas to foster collaboration in the realm of business opportunities and cross-border e-commerce through rail transport.
23 August 2023
International College of Digital Innovation
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, the Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation, and Lecturer Dr. Peang-or Laohavilai joined the group for a study visit and an exchange of ideas. This served as a means to foster collaboration in the realm of business opportunities and cross-border e-commerce through rail transport. The initiative was led by Dr. Pichet Kunadhamraks, the Director General of the Department of Rail Transport at the Ministry of Transport of Thailand, alongside Dr. Tayakorn Chandrangsu, the Director of the Safety Standards Division and Maintenance, and Dr. Santi Charoenpornpattana, President of Rail Technology Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Transport.
The study tour embarked on an exploration journey by boarding a high-speed train from Luang Prabang Railway Station to Moten High-Speed Rail Station. Subsequently, the group took another high-speed train to Mohan Station, located in Yunnan Province. Here, they paid a visit to the Mohan Trade Center (Tourism & Logistics Center) and the Mohan border cross-border e-commerce sorting customs clearance center. The purpose of this visit was to investigate cargo routes within the e-commerce channels, specifically from Thailand through Laos to China. This endeavor presented an opportunity to establish connections in the management of imports and exports between countries via the rail system, thereby reducing entrepreneurs' costs for the betterment of the country's economy in the future.
