Chiang Mai University (CMU), in collaboration with Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and CMU’s Faculty of Political Sciences and Public Administration organized “Academic Presentation” to promote the better understanding about ASEAN and CPR’s role among CMU’s students.
Held on January 16th , 2019 at Main Auditorium, the 50th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Political Sciences and Public Administration, the special presentation and talk on “Engage with ASEAN through Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN : CPR” was delivered by Permanent Representatives to ASEAN from 5 countries including Indonesia, Lao, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand with the purpose to provides the audiences knowledge and understanding on ASEAN’s structure, role, function and working method of CPR among Thai people especially the young generation.
H.E. Amb. Phasporn Sangasubana, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, informed about how this event happened. “As Chairman of CPR, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN initiated this activity in the occasion of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019 and the 10th anniversary of CPR’s establishment.” The Permanent Representative of Thailand also informed that this academic event aimed to make a public visibility of CPR and a closer communication with Thais especially the teenagers. “The Ambassador Permanent Representatives at Jakarta would like to have an interaction with the university’s administrators, academic staff, students and general public as well to share experiences and knowledge about ASEAN and other related topics. In addition, such an activity will promote and strengthen Thailand’s image and role as ASEAN Chairmanship in this year.” H.E. Amb. Phasporn added.
This event received an overwhelming attention from students and the general public. During the presentation, the participants had a chance to ask questions and give comment to the Permanent Representatives extensively. At the end of the activity , the Permanent Representatives thanked and expressed appreciation to Chiang Mai University for the complete organizing and the achievements of this activity.
