CMU’s 55th Anniversary

Chiang Mai University is the first university in the Northern Thailand and was established in response to the needs of the Northern Thai people in order to be a center for academics and professional trainings. Chiang Mai University held its first lecture on June 18, 1964 and was formally opened by King Bhumibhol Adulayadej on January 24, 1965.
Chiang Mai University will be celebrating its 55th Anniversary under the theme “CMU 55 Years Creating Good Persons for Land” on January 31, 2020 at Chiang Mai University’s Convention Hall.
The morning activities is expected to have 1,300 people attend and in the afternoon a dialogue on “SDGs and the Role of Universities” will be held by invited national and international professionals to discuss Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In the evening a welcome party will be held for international guests and a home coming party “55 years CMU Community” will be held for CMU’s Alumni Association and current students. At this home coming party food and entrainment by will be offered and an opportunity to meet and greet famous CMU graduates.
