The International College of Digital Innovation at Chiang Mai University organized Tanabata Festival activities as part of the SEED Program, aimed at fostering international engagement among students.
The Digital Innovation International College hosted the Tanabata Festival for Chiang Mai University students, offering them the chance to immerse themselves in Japanese culture. The event included an overview of the history of the Japanese Tanabata Festival, as well as activities to enhance English language skills. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Consulate General of Japan in Chiang Mai, with Deputy Consul Shinseki Hiromi and officials from the news and culture department, namely Ms. Namita Varanirand and Ms. Waraporn Netsilp, who participated as speakers to enlighten attendees about Japanese culture and the Tanabata Festival. Additionally, information about scholarships from Japan was also shared during the event. This took place on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the International College of Digital Innovation, and there was the participation of 83 international students, faculty, and staff.
