CMU and Kunming Medical University Join Forces to Strengthen Medical Care Quality in South and Southeast Asia

        CMU has collaborated with Kunming Medical University, a leading medical university in Yunnan, China, to further international research collaboration, academic service, and student and staff development.

        On August 23, 2023, at the Office of the University’s Phraya Srivisarnvacha Room, Professor Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, CMU President, and Professor Xia Xueshan, President of Kunming Medical University, signed the renewed MoU with the CMU Faculty of Medicine being the main driving force in this collaboration by organising collaborative activities and advance the Construction of South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance (SSAMESA), which aims to build an educational and medical alliance in South and Southeast Asia.

        CMU strives to develop a comprehensive body of knowledge with learners at the centre of development. This signing is in line with CMU strategies in producing graduates with quality, integrity, and global citizenship, promoting research for excellence and innovation, socially beneficial academic services, and advancement of two SDGs which have been a development milestone for CMU, which are SDG 3: Good Health and Well Being, and SDG 4: Quality Education.

        Kunming Medical University is the top medical university in Yunnan and has long-standing relations with CMU. Both parties have collaborated on several occasions, including short-term student and staff exchange programmes, meetings, seminars, training, invitations for consultation, and special lectures for residents and orthopaedic surgeons, as well as a lecture by specialists from hospitals affiliated with Kunming Medical University on nursing at CMU Faculty of Medicine.

      This renewed MoU is a testament to the strength of this collaboration and the commitment to the development and promotion of medical education and medical care, which will ultimately lead to sustainable development and quality medical care for local and global communities.
