International College of Digital Innovation
On May 10, 2023, a working group from the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI) at Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean, traveled to a meeting to discuss cooperation with the Yunnan Cold Chain Logistics Industry Association at the Association Promotion of Industrial Development between Asia and Southeast Asia Humanities Exchange Center in Kunming, People's Republic of China. The discussion was centered around developing a cross-border e-commerce logistics system under the Entrepreneurship Development Project in Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Member Countries to Strengthening Entrepreneurs in LMC for Route Number 1 Innovation Corridor Development, with the primary objective of driving cross-border economic cooperation in the Mekong-Lancang Basin countries and promoting cross-border e-commerce products of SMEs, startup entrepreneurs, or community enterprises in Thailand to China.
The meeting addressed the major challenge of the high cost of transporting Thai goods to China, making it difficult for small entrepreneurs and SMEs to compete in terms of product prices. The group discussed ideas to comply with the policies of the Thai government that have developed border trade facilitation, such as customs clearance, to streamline the release of goods and increase the efficiency of logistics services. The discussions also focused on reducing the cost for entrepreneurs, promoting exports of Thai and ASEAN products through the R3A route connecting China, Laos, and Thailand through border points and important cities such as Chiang Khong District, Ban Huai Sai, Bo Ten, Bo Han, Kunming, and Kunming Free Trade Zone.
Representatives from various Chinese companies attended the meeting, including Ms. Yue Jun and Mr. Wang Jun, Directors of Kunming Chengzi Duoduo Technology Co., Ltd., as well as Mr. Wang Tong, the Chairman of the same company. Mr. Lou Chuixin, Chairman of both the Yunnan Cold Chain Logistics Industry Association and Yunnan Supply and Marketing Group, was also present. Other attendees included Mr. Zhu Meipin, Dean of Special Researcher of Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences Honorary Chinese Modernization Research Institute, Luo Yunming, Executive Chairman of Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in Yunnan Province, Mr. Bai Bingbo, General Manager of Yunnan Zhongerwo Industrial Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Xiaolong, Chairman of Yunnan Youyishun International Cold Chain Logistics Co., Ltd., Mr. Pan Wei, Deputy General Manager of Kunming Zhangjin Cold Chain Industry Co., Ltd., Mr. Shi Meng, Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Huiquan Cold Chain Logistics Co., Ltd., Mr. Ding Haiyue, Secretary General of Yunnan Cold Chain Logistics Industry Association, and Ms. Lu Yanbei and Ms. Cai Haiyan, both members of the Secretariat of Yunnan Cold Chain Logistics Industry Association.
