Welcoming Consul General of India to Vishwa Hindi Diwas - Hindi Poetry Recital Contest

CMU’s Vice President Associate Professor Rome Chiranukrom, welcomed H.E. Mr. Shiri Jain, Consul General of India to Chiang Mai province, as he presided over the opening ceremony of the Vishwa Hindi Diwas held at CMU’s Indian Studies Center, on 26th February, 2020, co-organized by the Indian Studies Center together with Faculty of Humanities.
The Vishwa Hindi Diwas event included a Hindi poetry recital contest, which was held in celebration of “World Hindi Day 2020” and the winner was decided by a panel of judges including H.E. Mr. Shiri Jain, Mr. Montree Singhaskul, Chairman of the Indian Club in Chiang Mai, Mr. Nokdang Iamir and Mrs. Among Iamir.
The contest helped promote the Hindi Language and the dissemination of Indian culture and had 20 students enter the contest, 15 Thai, 3 Chinese and 2 Japanese students. In line with India’s modern pop culture the Vishwa Hindi Diwas event ended with a Bollywood Dance performed by students studying Pali-Sansakrit-Hindi Languages, Faculty of Humanities.
