On November 20, 2023, the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI) at Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Benjamas Suksatit, Associate Dean, paid a visit to Yunnan Normal University (YNNU), Chenggong Campus in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China. The purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions regarding academic cooperation, specifically focusing on short-term personnel and student exchanges, as well as collaborative research. The delegation from Chiang Mai University was met by representatives from Yunnan Normal University, including Professor Wan Xiangxin, Deputy Director of the Office of Exchange and Cooperation, and Professor Shen Yi, Deputy Dean of the Yunnan College of Chinese Language and Culture, Yunnan University. Mr. Li Tianming, Deputy Dean of the Yunnan College of Chinese Language and Culture at Yunnan University (Yunnan Chinese Language and Culture College, Yunnan Normal University), also participated in the discussions.
During this visit, the two institutions engaged in fruitful discussions regarding academic collaboration, emphasizing the establishment of short-term exchange programs for both staff and students. Such programs aim to enhance opportunities for cross-cultural learning among faculty and students. Additionally, both universities expressed their commitment to fostering research cooperation. Notably, there were discussions about the restoration of the Thai Language and Culture Center from Chiang Mai University at Yunnan Normal University.
