Ago-Industry Graduate Student Wins Silver at 2565 Thailand Research Expo 2022
5 August 2022
Faculty of Agro-Industry
Miss Suwanan Khampan, a master’s student in Food Science and Technology at the CMU Faculty of Agro-industry, won a silver medal in the university category of the innovation contest at the Thailand Research Expo 2022: Research for National Development towards Security, Prosperity and Sustainability, which was held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre.
The project involved making granola bars from banana blossoms, targeting breastfeeding women who are looking for a tasty banana blossom product in a ready-to-eat and portable form. A bar of the product gives as many nutrients as one banana blossom. After undergoing a quick-drying process to preserve the nutrients, the product is rich in phytochemicals such as flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and antioxidants. The project’s supervisor is Assistant Professor Dr. Pattavara Pathomrungsiyonggul.
